Ishioka Taro – We are MAM FILM

Synopsis: In 1964, a stray dog was taken in by Higashi Elementary School in Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The dog, named Taro, began a daily routine one day: walking the two kilometers from the school to Ishioka Station and back. He crossed pedestrian bridges alone, walked along the national highway, passed the railway crossing, and sat quietly in the station’s waiting room—gazing at the ticket gate for a while before returning to the school. He repeated this journey twice a day, every morning and evening, without fail. Taro became a familiar and beloved presence around Ishioka Station. His daily visits continued for 17 years, but no one ever learned who it was that Taro was waiting for.
